India, Russia sign MoU for funding of
hydro-generation projects
§ Russia’s
Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has signed a MoU with India’s Infrastructure Development
Finance Company (IDFC) for funding of hydro-generation projects. This is an important
step in economic cooperation between the two countries.
§ RDIF
has signed a MoU with its partners in the BRICS member-states to work with
sovereign funds, with the BRICS Bank and invest in the equity of infrastructure
projects in these countries.
India, US sign FATCA to fight tax evasion
FATCA is an acronym for the United States
Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act(FATCA).
Features of FACTA
§ Indian
financial institutions would have to reveal information about US tax payers to
therevenue department which would be passed on to the US tax authorities.
§ US
will also share financial information with India.
§ If
a financial institution does not comply to FATCA, it will have to pay 30%
penalty taxonall its US revenues, including dividend, interest, fees and sales.
§ FATCA
will help India deal with the black money menace.
India inks seven pacts with Turkmenistan
The agreements are:
§ Memorandum
of Understanding on supply of Chemical Products between the Indian Public
Sector Undertaking ‘Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited’ and the
Turkmen State concern ‘Turkmenhimiya.’
§ Memorandum
of Understanding between the Foreign Service Institute of the Ministry of
External Affairs of the Republic of India and the Institute of International
Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
§ Agreement
between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports of the Republic Of India and
the State Committee for sport of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the field Of
sports.
§ Programme
of Cooperation in Science and Technology between the Government of the Republic
of India and the Government of Turkmenistan for the Period of 2015-2017.
§ Memorandum
of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of India and the
Government of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in Yoga and Traditional Medicine.
§ Memorandum
of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of India and the
Government of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the field of Tourism.
§ Agreement
between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the
Republic of Turkmenistan on Cooperation in the field of Defence.

Joint Boundary Working Group, India proposed to consider granting a license to
an Indian bank to open a branch in Myanmar so
as to facilitate greater Indian trade and investment into that country
Government approves pact between India and
Seychelles to curb black money

administration and enforcement of the domestic laws of two countries concerning

§ The
PAC Esetter Fund is a fund that supports the Promoting Energy Access through
Clean Energy (PEACE) an initiative between US and India through Partnership to
Advance Clean Energy (PACE).
