All Awards and Honours - July 2015

·         Ramon Magsaysay Awardees for the year 2015 announced; Two Indians among the awardees
Among the five awardees who will be conferred with the so-called Asia’s Nobel Prize,   there are two Indians, namely Sanjiv Chaturvedi and Anshu Gupta.
·         Helena Ndume, Jorge Sampaio awarded with first-ever Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela Prize
The award ceremony was a part of the annual commemoration of Nelson Mandela International Day, which is observed on 18 July every year.

·         Ramachandra Guha chosen for Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize 2015
The prize will be conferred upon him on 17 September 2015 in Fukuoka International Congress Center in Japan, following which the awardees will be deliberating lectures at high-schools and universities across the city.
·         Peter Higgs received Royal Society’s Copley Medal, the world's oldest scientific prize
Higgs received the Copley Medal for his fundamental contribution to particle physics with his theory explaining the Higgs Boson, which was confirmed by the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider in 2012.
·         36th annual American Book Awards announced
The awards are presented by the Before Columbus Foundation, a non-profit educational and service organisation.
·         Telugu cartoonist Pamarthy Shankar won Grand Prix World Press Cartoon 2014 Award
He was presented the award at Cascais in Portugal by World Press Cartoon Director Antonio Antunes.
·         Benoy Behl won the Best Documentary Producer award at Madrid International Film Festival
He was awarded for producing and directing a documentary film titled Indian Roots of Tibetan Buddhism.
·         Kerala tourism's Muziris heritage project bagged PATA award
MHP that stretches across from municipality of North Paravur in Ernakulam district to that of Kodungalloor in Thrissur district is designed to involve & integrate the local community in all intended developmental initiatives.
·         Indian-origin Shiv Pande received honorary fellowship from University of Central Lancashire
He received the prestigious fellowship for his contribution to the community as a general practitioner and medical educator.
·         Indian American Sunita Viswanath honoured as Champions of Change by US White House
Sunita was selected for her work to encourage Hindus to take care of the environment.
·         Sayed Haider Raza honoured with highest French civilian honour Legion of Honour
The award was presented by French Ambassador Francois Richier on the occasion of the French National Day celebrations.
·         Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Churachandpur of Manipur won 18th National Youth Parliament Competition
JNV Churachandpur emerged winner from a list of 64 JNVs spread across 8 regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Saimiti in the country.
·         PetroFed Oil & Gas Industry Awards 2014 conferred
The winners were selected through a rigorous process of collation by knowledge partner PricewaterhouseCoopers.
·         Make in India initiative of DIPP won Frost and Sullivan’s 2015 Economic Development Innovation Award
The award was given in recognition of its outstanding contribution to nurture India’s economic and industrial transformation and was received by Amitabh Kant, Secretary, DIPP.
·         Jodhpur Film Society honoured with Pritiman Sarkar Award 2014-15
The award was presented by the Federation of Film Societies of India (North Region).
·         Four Indian-Americans honoured with 2015 Great Immigrants: The Pride of America award
These Indian-Americans are among 38 individuals that were honoured for having enlightened the society, culture, and economy.
·         Indian-American Professor R. Paul Singh named for GCHERA World Agriculture Prize 2015
He will be awarded in recognition of remarkable internationally renowned contributions to food engineering research, education, development, consulting, and technology transfer.
·         World Food Prize 2015 to be conferred on Sir Fazle Hasan Abed of Bangladesh
Sir Abed has been recognized for his decades of service to human development and through building Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC), the largest NGO in the world.
·         Darshan Jain, an Indian-American teacher named for US Presidential Award
The award is given annually to outstanding K-12 Science and Mathematics teachers from across the country and carries a cash prize of 10000 US dollars.
·         Sanjeev Galande selected for G D Birla Award for Scientific Research for 2014
The name was announced by the K K Birla Foundation and he is the 24th recipient of the award.
